Even though I am still recovering, I will be leaving for Blacksburg, VA, Home of the Hokies, at approximately 2:30PM. My hope is to get down to the place that we all love and have another great weekend.
I want to summarize the 3 things I am most looking forward to in this game. Hopefully, I can continue this with each upcoming game. This week are mostly general goals. As our team meets the general goals, I will specify more distinct goals for certain positions/players.1. A rebound by the defense. We need our defense to come out swarming, and show that we are still one of the tops. Show that last week's game was just the whole team being caught out of whack. We survived a 28-7 meltdown against Miami in 2005 and a much worse offensie shootout against GT in 2006 and still were one of the best d's, so we can easily recover here too.
2. An efficient offense. I'm not expecting Tyrod to cure all ill's. Freshmen mistakes WILL happen, so bear with him. I'm merely expecting him to cover up the pathetic-ness that is Stinksprings offensive prowess. Hopefully a few timely scrambles for first downs will keep a few drives going longer (and give the D some rest cuz they are still prolly worn out from last week). A dual-threat qb will also loosen up the opposing defenses for Branden Ore and KLjr to run it down the middle.
3. A special teams play. Anything. A return td, a block, a turnover. Because we have become so little of a threat anymore. I know many claim Beamer is saving them for the big games, but the opposing teams have less to fear when we show nothing.
There they are. Those three things happen and we should walk away with a win with a 28+ point differential. Otherwise, be prepared for ECU take 2.
