Navy Vs Wake Forest

Though it is practically a home game for Navy, I think Wake can stop the wishbone well enough to cover the 3. And if they don’t Georgia Tech will have some fun against them in ACC play.
Gally’s take: It’s a bowl game that starts at 11 am. It’s either this or poker reruns on ESPN, I ‘spose.
Fresno State Vs Colorado State

Neither team has a defense. But with that said, the Fresno offence and defense are just a touch better, statistically.
Gally’s take: First I’ve heard of Albuquerque since the last Bugs Bunny cartoon I saw.
Memphis Vs USF

BYU Vs Arizona

BYU is the smart choice here. They are the better team and may have even played in a harder conference this year. I would even say take the money line for BYU to win if you have that option.
Gally’s take: Wasn’t BYU supposed to be playing a BCS game? At least they are sending the Mormons to a nice, wholesome city like Las Vegas.
Southern Mississippi VS Troy

Both teams have high powered offences but Troy has a little bit better defense. Whatever you do take the over on 55 points. No chance this game is less than 30-25.
Gally’s take: Hi, I’m Troy the Football Team. You may remember me from such bowls as “The Ch-Ch-Ch-Chia Pet Gary, Indiana Bowl” and “No Means No Sexual Harassment Bowl”.
TCU Vs Boise State

I think this game might be the best non BCS bowl game. Boise’s top 15 offence versus TCU’s number 2 rated defense. It will be fun to watch but, no blue turf equals no Boise victory.
Gally’s take: Tech and Cincy should just go ahead and switch with this bowl. Much more deserving of a trip to Miami.
Hawaii Vs Notre Dame

I really don’t know about this one. I just want to see the Irish loose.
Gally’s take: Chances this game gets crushed in the ratings by “A Christmas Story”: 100%. I’m so glad that teams refuse bowls based on finals, but decide to go ahead and have them play on CHRISTMAS FREAKING EVE.
Florida Atlantic Vs Central Michigan

It’s practically a home game for CMU which is helpful. Also, I have the Lafever and the only cure is more Chippewa.
Gally’s take: Also known as the Bail-out Bowl.
North Carolina Vs West Virginia

It’s practically a home game for UNC and I just want to chant ACC ACC ACC ACC at the end of the game.
Gally’s take: One of the better bowl games this year. WVU may be headed for a Don Nehlen-esque era if they go down to UNC.
Wisconsin Vs Florida State

Florida State is the better team with the better record and its in Florida, enough said.
Gally’s take: Another great bowl game. And I hope FSU goes down like one of their football players in an online cheating scandal.
Miami Vs California

Considering Cal lost to Maryland I don’t trust them. However, I think Cal will win the game just won’t be by more than a touchdown.
Gally’s take: Remember playing Air Force in this game? I don’t either. It has been repressed way down, and will most likely turn into a tumor one day. Freaking baseball field…
Northern Illinois Vs Louisiana Tech

Since the spread is only 1.5 you can take the money line on this one. The game is in Louisiana, and since both teams are statically equal, location is the only reasoning here.
Gally’s take: Bleh.
Rutgers Vs North Carolina State

I have always wondered why this game isn’t in Louisville at Papa Johns Stadium, ohh well. NC State had a good run this year to get to a bowl game but they won’t be able to handle Rutgers if Teel has a good day.
Gally’s take: Another Big East / ACC game? Someone has some undealt-with emotions.
Missouri Vs Northwestern

This game is an interesting matchup. A team that was projected to be good that never really preformed against a team that wasn’t supposed to be as competitive as it was. I don’t trust Missouri to cover 13 since they have underachieved and underperformed all year.
Gally’s take: Did anyone see the beat down Missouri put on the ‘Huskers on the road? Yeah, they are on a different level than our mighty Hokies.
Maryland Vs Nevada

The annual Blue Turf Bowl is here again. I give Nevada the nod here because they are used to playing on that turf since they have to do it every 2 years.
Gally’s take: It was widely (and most likely falsely) reported that Maryland had sold 16 tickets to this game. Not surprisingly, most people believed that when it first came out.
Oklahoma State Vs Oregon

OSU has better team speed and plays in a better conference. Also, if OSU wins T. Boone Pickens might buy all of us a windmill.
Gally’s take: Ugly orange vs. ugly uniforms. No one wins.
Rice Vs Western Michigan

Both teams can’t play defense but Rice has the better offence. Also, the game is in their hometown of Houston.
Gally’s take: Rice is a much more viable commodity in this economy than cars. Go with the food product.

Houston has a high powered offence but no defense. If Air Forces defense can get a stop or 2 they will pull it out.

BC has a better offence and a better defense. The game is in Tennessee so hopefully the fans will help keep Vanderbilt close. But, BC will just be to much for them.
Gally’s take: From Orange Bowl to this? Yeesh. I’d feel bad if I didn’t hate the Eagles so much.
Kansas Vs Minnesota

Does anyone remember when this used to be called the Insight.com bowl. Those were the good old days, people were buying stocks that didn’t turn a profit and money was being spent like everyone was Pacman Jones. Oh right the game. Neither team has a defense but Kansas’s offence is a lot better than Minnesota’s.
Gally’s take: If Baby Mangino is in attendance, the Jayhawks roll.
Georgia Tech Vs LSU

It’s a home game for Georgia Tech and if LSU doesn’t have enough team speed to stop the wishbone it’s going to be a long day.
Gally’s take: It must suck for Tech to see a worse Tech going to a better bowl… Yeah, must suck.
Iowa Vs South Carolina

These are two very equal teams with very good defenses. In this case you got to trust the Ole’ Ball Coach.
Gally’s take: How in the hell did South Carolina get a New Year’s Day bowl? At least we’ll all be too hungover to watch it.
Clemson Vs Nebraska

Clemson has a better defense Nebraska has a better offence. The better offence of Nebraska may be due to the lack of defense of the Big 12.
Gally’s take: Lock Clemson up for robbery after they stole this bowl from FSU.
Michigan State Vs Georgia

Pick: MSU with the points
This is a battle of two really good running backs. I think Georgia will win but will never really run away with it. I like Michigan State to loose by no more than 7.
Gally’s take: Remember when Georgia was #1? Neither do they.
Southern California Vs Pennsylvania State

As much as I hate to say it USC is good, damn good (it’s easy when you get to pay your players to come to school). But, the Big 10 is awful and Penn State doesn’t have enough team speed to stay with USC.
Gally’s take: Needs more Song Girls.
Virginia Tech Vs Cincinnati

Pick: VT with the points/ straight up
Depending on which Hokie team shows up this could be VT’s first BCS bowl win.
Gally’s take: If Voldemort is still running the offense, take the under. Even if it’s 3.
Mississippi Vs Texas Tech

If Crabtree is healthy and plays there is no chance Ole Miss can hang with Texas Tech.
Gally’s take: Best value on the board. Tech may win by 50.
Kentucky Vs East Carolina
LIBERTY (Jan. 2, 5 p.m., ESPN)

Line: ECU -3
Pick: Kentucky with the points
ECU won Conference USA but has not looked as strong as they did against VT and WVU. We will see what ECU team will show up for this one.
Gally’s take: I hate everything about the Pirates. 16 years without a winning season? Give me a break. And ECU sucks too.
Utah Vs Alabama

I hope Utah can keep it close. But, Alabama will have a sour taste in their mouth for not going to the title game and will have something to prove at Utah’s expense.
Gally’s take: Anyone in the country not rooting for Utah? Didn’t think so.
Buffalo Vs Connecticut

Buffalo is a nice story this year but they will not be able to stop Donald Brown.
Gally’s take: Can these two teams just stay in Canada?
Ohio State Vs Texas

Pick: UT to cover
Texas is bitter that they got passed over for the Big 12 Championship game and they have too much team speed for Ohio State to handle. I think the last 2 BCS Championships have shown that.
Gally’s take: Texas puts up 60? Maybe 65? This could get ugly real fast.
Tulsa Vs Ball State

I have a couple questions regarding this game. 1, why is this the second to last bowl game? And 2, why did Ball State’s Coach leave to go to San Diego State? Was that the best he could do after turning a nothing program into a respectable team? There will be a lot of offense here take the over of 77.

Florida Vs Oklahoma
BCS Title Game (Jan. 8, 8 p.m., FOX)
Miami, FL
Line: UF -3
Pick: Oklahoma to win
This might be the best title game since Texas-USC. Both teams can spread you out and score. Florida has the better defense. It will most likely come down to the last team who has the ball (a la Texas-USC).
Gally’s take: A title game without Ohio State is a victory for all.
