According to SI.com, Manny Ramirez has tested positive for performance enhancing drugs and will be suspended for 50 games starting today.

Hopefully this isn't a big joke or something, but Sports Illustrated is reporting it along with the LA newspapers. It wasn't a big joke. He's done for 50 games. Sucks to be him.

As if Jason Bay's performance this year hasn't been enough, this huge news makes that trade the Sox made exponentially better. Again, I've said it a lot, but it can't be said enough, Thank you Pittsburgh. Truly, thank you. - Love, Boston.



UPDATE: Two sources told ESPN's T.J. Quinn and Mark Fainaru-Wada that the drug used by Ramirez is hCG -- human chorionic gonadotropin. HCG is a women's fertility drug typically used by steroid users to restart their body's natural testosterone production as they come off a steroid cycle. It is similar to Clomid, the drug Bonds, Giambi and others used as clients of BALCO.
