Our Georgia Tech Loss = Better Bowl Game?

I know it might sound crazy, but crazy is what we do here at The North End Zone.

----------

OK, so that little teaser might be a little misleading.  By "better bowl game" I mean a more interesting match up than bragging rights-wise.  We aren't going to the National Championship.  That's for sure.  We might not even go to the Orange Bowl, where the ACC rep is predicted to play Boise St. or TCU.  Last week the prediction was Cincinnati, it's always changing.

But the point of this whole thing is, is that a Bowl game, namely the Orange Bowl, would not be, in my opinion, an interesting match up for us fans to watch if we play Boise St (we're playing them regular season next year already...why ruin the surprise?), TCU (Hard to care about a game against a team I can't remember which conference they're in), or Cincinnati (Same game as last year).

Since we lost to Georgia Tech, and it's possible, if not probable, for all three ACC Coastal teams to win out, we could be facing either a Gator Bowl or Chik-fil-A Bowl bid.  As of right now these are the teams predicted to be playing in those bowls as our potential opponents:  Tennessee (awesome possibility), Georgia (awesome possibility and awesome revenge possibility), and Notre Dame (Oh sweet Jesus yes, yes, yes, please let this happen).

So while we definately will not make it to the National Championship, and we may not make it to the Orange Bowl, our bowl outlook might be pretty damn interesting if we keep this up.  If we don't win the ACC this year then we do it next year.  ACC Championships are awesome and all, but except for bragging rights, they don't mean much.  Of course I would love for us to win the ACC this year, but in all probability, we face a very tough road ahead by relying on other teams to lose.  And I sure wouldn't mind being the last straw on the camels back that gets Charlie Weis canned.

Doesn't the Orange Bowl have the first selection of the at-large pool?
So it would be more likely to be the second SEC, Big XII or Pac-10 team.

If I were a VPI fan I wouldn't want to go to the Peach (aka Chik-Fil-A) Bowl. Atlanta is not your city for football this year.
