Even though CGally posted a recap of the game, I wanted to get in on the action as well. First off - That. Was. AWESOME. One fumble recovery, one interception, one blocked kick for a touchdown. Just awesome.
The best part of the game (second to beating Miami, of course, and just barely ahead of CGally and me going undefeated in bumarooski), save for the South End Zone, the stadium was still packed until the game clock hit triple zeroes. In the pouring rain. That is the definition of hardcore fanhood.
After the game, while perusing the internet, there were some quite numerous anecdotes from the people involved in the game. The best one being:
“In all reality I don’t think they’re a better team than us, I think they played better than us.” - Miami OT Jason Fox.Wow. if that isn't denial, I don't know what is. I always thought that if someone played better than you, they were better than you. I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I'm not.
Another fun quote came from a Hurricane fan sitting a few rows back from us in the game. It was during the third quarter and it went like this:
Guy in our row: "How you feelin', man?" Miami guy: "How many championships do you guys have?" Guy in our row: "Championships don't put points on the board, buddy."No matter what sport there's always one team that relies way too heavily on their past record to make amends for their current situation. Fun times.
Anyways, we won and it was awesome. Maybe it's because when you haven't seen a game in person for the last year, the one you do see in person is that much better, but this game may have been the best Tech game I have ever witnessed.
27-24? I'm sorry I doubted you.
UPDATE: Found this after I wrote this post, but it may be the best quote of them all:
"The U might be back," Hokies cornerback Rashad Carmichael said, "but we never left."Hell yeah.
