An abbreviated preview this week. Here's a list of things that are stupid:
- Going to grad school
- Quarters
- Finals
- Finals that end at 9pm the Friday before Homecoming

When's a good time for Goldfinger other than "always"? When the lyrics have the word "wake" in them when we play Wake Forest.

Before we get into making fun of Vanderbilt-light, let’s take one last chance to revel in beating a shit school from Michigan.
Really, these wins never feel this good. And if you think about it, a win like this won’t feel this good for a long time.
Thanks to the outpouring of.. rage (?) during HateFest, we wanted this victory terribly bad. I’d like to thank the guys that defended their alma mater so voraciously. Thanks for dropping by, and we hope you know it was all in good fun.

The Bad Guys
Wake Forest is almost the anti-Virginia Tech. They have a decent football team that used to be just awful. We have a decent basketball team that used to be just awful.
Wake’s basketball team is good year in year out, but can’t seem to become one of the elite programs. They also have an offensive coordinator that hasn’t done a decent job since 1976*.
*May not be accurate.
Tech’s football team… yeah, you get it.
And for the second week in a row, we play a team that is just straight-up NOT good. They’ve lost 4 in a row, including a shutout against FSU and a loss to NAVY.
Really? Navy? Losing to Navy is for Germany and Notre Dame.

The Good Guys
Despite the opening drive and garbage time (read: the entire 4th quarter), the defense looked stout on Saturday.
Yes it was the shitty, shitty Chippewa’s of Central Michigan, but the unit still looked solid.
And despite the scoreboard, our offense was… meh. Oh-fer on 3rd downs is abysmal. If we can’t figure out what the hell is going on every week, we could be in trouble come Georgia Tech.
RMFW is questionable this week, but don’t expect him on the field. We shouldn’t need him, especially the way that Evans has been playing. One more week of this kind of running, and he may be getting a nickname.

The Game
Homecoming. 3:30 start. The weatherman calls for awesomeness. There’s only one word to describe this weekend: Kick. Ass.
Once again, the Hokies need to knock this one out early. There’s plenty of reasons why:
Get the starters out to avoid injuries.
Save the fans the stress of another close game against a crap team.
Let everyone peace out to get home in time to nap. This didn’t used to be a positive. Then I got old.
There was a decent discussion here about the North End Zone (the actual one) during the CMU game. I was there, and let me tell you, it was freaking hot as balls. It seemed like it was pretty full early on, but then again, I was in the middle of it without an overall view.
But what do we expect from a noon game against a shit team? It honestly doesn’t bother me too much. If it’s weak against a conference opponent, then we have issues.
