That sucked, big time.  Some day-late observations after the jump.

-------------------

So that really sucked.  I mean we were up and then in true Hokie fashion, forget to play the last two minutes of a game.  Heartbreaking.

About our team

- First off, let me say that the first quarter was possibly the worst football I've ever seen played.  We were TERRIBLE.  I wont even go into detail because everything was awful.

- The O-line is fucking horrendus.  Per usual.  Seriously Frank?  Recruit some damn offensive linemen who will stop blocking for their favorite blade of grass and start blocking our damn quarterback.  If Tyrod was Sean Glennon, we would have been sacked a minimum of 13 times.  Minimum.

- Speaking of Tyrod, he was playing like he wanted to drink beer out of the Stanley Cup.  Yeah that's right.  He was playing so hard, he could have won the championship trophy in a different sport.  Tyrod, I was always a fan, but I think I might be swapping my RMFW shirt for a #5 jersey.  Consider all associations of #5 with Marcus Vick completely erased.

- Our 2 minute defense is non-existent.  I mean seriously.  What the fuck.  The guy was WIDE open in the end zone with two Tech players standing around him with their thumbs up their asses.  That needs to be fixed NOW.

- I miss Brandon Pace.  That is something I never thought I would ever say.

Other notes:

- FedEx Field is awful.  Let me tell you why:  1) It's far enough from the metro station to be short enough to walk but long enough to be an awful walk.  2) There are basically no signs or directions to anything anywhere.  We walked around the stadium cluelessly trying to find certain lots and the metro station.  No help from signs/attendants/etc.  3) The people moving set up is terrible.  How do you have a clusterfuck at the ticket gate with no lines or anything as well as not have all your exits open when the almost full stadium leaves at the same time?  4) Opening the lots at 4?  Seriously?

I will never be going to games at that shithole again.

/remembers wife is Redskins fan.

Fuck.

- I won't say Boise State fans were the worst fans we've ever experienced, because let's remember, we have played WVU and Miami, but I saw a Boise State fan with a small child on his shoulders taunting a Hokie fan after the game.  Nothing but class.

- Boise State beat us.  There's nothing to say that can take that away.  But that first quarter killed us.  We were the better team for three quarters.  Just goes to show you that you need to play a complete game in order to win.

- Can we just all agree that playing the first game against a tough opponent is awful?  I mean four years now, we have started the season with a loss.  I'm fucking sick of it.  Everyone else plays cupcakes, why can't we?  Can't we start our season against CMU instead of a top 5 team?  I won't say that it's necessarily a bad idea, because it may help us get more focused and know from the start how bad losing tastes and vow to never do it again, but come on.  It fucking sucks.

- If I were Boise State, I would not be very happy with how this game went.  I mean they gave up a 17 point lead, they were losing half, if not most of the game, they didn't look unbeatable, and they only won in the last minute or so.  To me, they would have had to convincingly beat us to be able to prove something here, and they didn't do it.  One or two plays taking a little bit longer to end, and this would have been a loss for them.  I'm not trying to take anything away from them, because they did win, but in terms of their National Championship hopes, I don't think this did them any good.

So in the end, we lost this game.  We should have won, but we didn't.  There are several things that need to be addressed, but many things that are looking real good.  We battled the number three team hard, and came out defeated, but something tells me that may not happen again this year.

Watch out JMU, we're pissed and you're next.
