Game 10: Georgia Tech Predictions

Georgia Tech.  Thursday Night.  Hit the jump.

Ugh.  I don’t know what to say about the Duke game.  We play down to our team.  Plain and simple.  Somehow we have worked our way up to number 10 in the rankings, not that the rankings mean jack squat for the ACC or anyone not ranked 1 or 2 (except Boise State).

But still, 10?  Sadly, this sets up perfectly for the same storyline we’ve all grown accustomed to:  Big ACC win on a Thursday night in the national spotlight by the “underdog”.  Let’s hope this isn’t the case.  Jeebus, when did I get so friggin’ cynical? Moving on.

Even though the last game was terrible, we still have to announce the winner of last week’s prediction challenge.  No one was close.  At least we’re all hopeful, right?  But still, no one close.  The closest was CGally.  But vacuum him.  He can’t win.  He sucks.  So we will give it to… [wheel of fortune clicking sound]… GWay!  He got engaged recently, so he needs a little pick-me-up after making the move to end his life as he knows it.  For this pity-on-you decision, you win:

A Blue Devil fish.  They’re tropical.  But don’t take your aggressions out on the fish, he had nothing to do with the terrible play of our team.  Enjoy.

Anyways, onto the predictions.  We play GT.  It’s a big ‘un.

Your predictions:

BDubs: Offense starts off slow again, but this time, it's too little, too late.  Hokies go down to Georgia Tech, 27-24.  And yes, I am just fine with taking backlash on this and will gladly eat crow if we win.

DiP: 27-17 hokies

d_w: Hokies Win - 38-21... Jackets get out to an early lead and the defense settles in to stop the option and Wilson shows them what a real running back can do.

Wright: I don't think we win this game (maybe my pessimism is because I'm stuck in shitty Jersey this week), but to avoid backlash I'm going with the Hokies over the Yellow Bastards. These games always seem to have wacky scores, so VT wins 29-23

Poppa Gally: A special teams play….I’m thinking a “BLOCKED KICK”….. will be the difference!! Hokies 24 – Wreck 21!!

CMU Football Analyst: Hokies win 30-20. After an extra week of preparation, the offense
drops 30 on a decent Georgia Tech team

Hokie Ambassador to Philly Milwaukee: Hokies start out slow but pull it together in the second half. Virginia Tech 26, Georgia Tech 20

Maniak: In Atlanta....I'm going to go 31-19 hokies....but it's close for most of the game until late turnovers turn the tide in our favor

Hokie Guru: Virginia Tech will win 28-24.  Hokies get a big dose of DMFW (who will continue his streak of 100+ rushing games), a couple of big pass plays to Danny "Seven-Eleven Benchmark - Always Open" Coale, and a well-timed interception from Kyle Fuller (who is slowly becoming a First-Team All-ACC defensive back).

JMcB: I am going with a throwback: 24-3 HOKIES.

And Barry, since when did our predictions have to reflect any sort of reality?

Offensive explosion! DMFW goes for 130, and the Tank Engine throws for 2 tds and runs for another. 35-21 Hokies

The Northerner: Somehow, I have faith.  It’ll be a close one, but Hokies get the better of GT on the road.  We play down to our opponents, but we also play up to them.  VT 31-28.
