Worilds is going pro

jason-worilds

New out of the 'Burg today is that opposing offensive players are taking a deep breath of relief.  Jason Worilds is going into the NFL.

To be completely honest, this sucks.  Not going to sugar coat it.  It blows.  We have a lot of people leaving from our awesome defense, but Worilds is different than all of them.  He's leaving as a junior.  We could have had him for another year.

But listen.  Jason, if you read this blog, I ain't mad at you.  You just fucking kicked the collective ass of Tennessee.  You just had a great season.  You need to get paid.  And after an ending like we had this season, why wouldn't you want to leave VT on this note?  I mean sure, it could happen again next year, but in my still-young life, I've learned you take an opportunity when it presents itself and don't get greedy.  So, Jason, we wish you tons of luck in the NFL.  Unless you play for the Giants, Jets or Cowboys.  If you get drafted by any of those teams, you are dead to us.  You're not a brother, you're not a friend. I don't want to know you or what you do. I don't want to see you at the hotels, I don't want you near my house. When you see our mothercoach, I want to know a day in advance, so I won't be there. You understand? Just like David Clowney and Aaron Rouse.  Dead to us.

But again, Jason, congrats, good luck, and come visit us sometime.

Well, Tallahassee came through in a big way for the Hokies on Thursday night. Such a performance calls for some kind of running tribute.

So as suggested by long time reader (and now psuedo-contributor) DW, here is the first installment of the Zombie Kill of the Week...

Game 12: Seton Hall

ESPN2, 7:30 pm. Biggest game of your life.

Tech is 11-1, and Seton Hall is playing pretty good basketball right now. With two close losses to Syracuse and WVU, the Pirates are looking sharp.

That's all we have as far as scouting goes. This game is huge, and will be a great barometer for where were are as a team.

And who else could we posisbly go with to lead us tonight than the man himself...

The last prediction post of the year. This is for all the marbles... kind of. I guess you could argue that this is our least significant game in Atlanta this season... nevermind.

Let's drop some jumpage...

Redemption...

After what seems like months of waiting, the day has finally arrived. Tomorrow, we will officially be allowed to get drunk in suits while wearing pointy hats.

Also, Tech plays Tennessee in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl.

Welcome to Atlanta, where the Hokies play... like ev-er-y month or so.

Start jumping…

Well the big day is tomorrow, and I'm getting more nervous by the minute.  Not that I don't have confidence in our team, I just get nervous before big meaningful events.  And this game is a meaningful event.  More after the jumperino.

Bball Game 12: Longwood

Let's just get this out of the way early. Tech plays Longwood at 2. Anyone know Longwood's mascot? First one to get it gets a prize.

Let's get this done and get to 11 wins.

This is the last of our must-win games. After this, the shitter will be full.

One more record for RMFW

Our Bowl game is coming up in the next couple of days, and there is still a record that is within grasp for our man-horse, Ryan Williams.

CJ Spiller tied the ACC TD record in the bowl game (same bowl game I forgot was even on TV until the next morning), when he ended the season with 21 trips to the promised land.

The next two players that can surpass that 21st score include RW and Josh "I like my mascots like I like my women - WASPy" Nesbitt.  However, RW needs only one to tie and two to break the record, while Nesbitt needs three to tie and four to win.  Let's say his chances of breaking this record are on par with CGally's chances of fulfilling his 2009 New Years resolution, "to touch a boob".

On the other hand, Ryan Williams has a great shot of breaking the record, because he averaging 1.66 touchdowns a game.  And since he hasn't played since over a month ago, he's got about 6 touchdowns stored up in him.  Chances are good.

So when you watch us beat UT on Thursday night, just remember to take a celebratory shot when you see RMFW dance into the proverbial Wizard Sleeve of football for the second time and officially own the last record up for grabs in the ACC this season.
